The view is better from Iceland

Don't forget your PIN Number!!! You want to have your PIN number if ever needing to get gas...otherwise a large and costly hold may be put on your card!

Renting a car is highly recommended! But only if you are confident of your driving skills on ice and snow! The rental cars have tires made to grip the terrain. But I did hit an ice patch that sent me spinning a bit on the roadway. It was right up top with one of my scariest moments in life...Most tours or sites are great distances apart in Iceland.

First stop

  • Reykjavik, Iceland Pier

What an Ice Island View of the ocean surrounding the Icelandic Island!!!

TIP: parking is FREE on Sundays!! Great time to drive and tour!

Second stop...

  • Natural Hot Geysirs

Iceland has many beautiful sites, mostly on what is known as "The Golden Circle"! I imagine because it's like a huge circle around the island with site after site..it took me about 6-8 hours of driving, stopping, seeing!

I purchased a self guided tour off Airbnb for $25 USD. Worth every penny!! Saved me hundreds of hundreds of bucks! See link below if you're interested!

Stop three:

  • Icelandic Waterfalls and random view spots

  • Be prepared for a hike off the parking spots

  • Snow boots with none slip good grips are recommended so that your hips aren't knocked out of place from falling hahaha

There so many random views in between the drive and even an option to hike some caves... I opted to keep going because it gets dark very early in Gloomy Iceland...I noticed it becoming dark at about 2:30pm.

Please reserve an entire day for the famous Blue Lagoon!

Fun Facts of the Blue Lagoon

  1. It's one of 25 Wonders of the World

  2. The Natural Geothermal waters are heated by Volcano magma from deep below the surface 6500feet below

  3. Temps at its origin below reach up to 464 Degrees Farenheit

  4. The waters are a Turquoise vision in a black balsamic moonscape

  5. The waters capture Silica and other minerals on its way up creating the Lagoon

  6. When the water emerges it's at 100 Degrees Fahrenheit (perfect for visitors to comfortable swim in during the freezing Icelandic Temperatures outside the water)

More Facts & Elements

So the most basic package at the Lagoon will get you one drink (alcohol or none alcohol), use of towels, one silica face mask, unlimited time in the lagoon (average guest stay is 3 hours in the water), and use of lockers. The cost is as low as $59 USD to $140 USD. It's based on when you reserve your time. Check the weather to see when the sun rise and select that time!! You will thank me later!

There is a bar in the pool that you can swim or doggy paddle up to...definitely was a short line in the pool to it! Hahaha

It's so much to enjoy while in the lagoon, such as the geothermal waterfall massage, cave with natural smooth rock seats in the water (ambiance is so relaxed), bridges to go under or walk across, many many very nice life guards surround the lagoon...all wearing huge coats, gloves, and skull caps because it's so cold outside the water! They will volunteer to take pictures if you with your phone as I witnessed! The Icelandic people all are so nice and approachable!!

The Northern Lights aka Aurora Borealis

In order to catch a view if them...the weather must be ideal. You can track when a high probability of a sighting! It's often after midnight to 2am. I slept through every single one!! Iceland weather is amazing hibernation vibes!!

Sorry no pictures as a result!

I also didn't get up early enough to hike up to the Volcano which is very active! I drove to the bottom of it and had some amazing ocean and glacier views!

Lava Restaurant at the Lagoon is definitely worth adding on for dinner after your swim! The views can not be topped!
